At City of Hope, we provide our pediatric patients with access to breakthrough cancer treatments in an environment dedicated to compassionate care. Our childhood cancer team works together to ensure patients receive leading-edge care to optimize treatment success rates.

Seeking a highly skilled and motivated Registered Nurse to join our Pediatric Inpatient Oncology unit that cares for pediatric patients and adult oncology/transplant overflow. The role delivers professional nursing care while coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, ethical, and high-quality outcomes.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Utilize the City of Hope nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and documentation
  • Administer and monitor medications, including narcotics
  • Assist physicians and care teams with exams, procedures, and direct patient care
  • Triage, assess, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care
  • Provide patient and family education and support
  • Deliver telephone advice using established protocols and sound nursing judgment
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to adjust care plans as needed
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient medical records
  • Promote a safe, therapeutic, and family-centered care environment
  • Demonstrate professionalism that supports positive working relationships
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, education, and training

Professional Standards

  • Adhere to City of Hope policies, procedures, safety, infection control, and compliance standards
  • Practice with integrity, honesty, and strict confidentiality
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

This opportunity is for per diem, 12-hour shifts, and is designated for day shift (7am start time). The per diem flat rate for this position is $78.524/hr. There is a minimum of 1 shift per week availability required for per diem status.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Graduate from nursing school with a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Graduate from a nursing school with a diploma, Associate Degree in Nursing and currently enrolled in a BSN program (must obtain BSN within two years of hire or transfer).
  • 1 to 3 years related experience
  • Current CA RN License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and PALS through American Heart Association
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification or Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate (Must be obtained within 6 months or hire)
