Forensic Nursing Network Collaborative Trainings

Forensic Nursing Network has developed training opportunities designed to improve outcomes for sexual assault patients by fostering collaboration among forensic nurses, law enforcement, attorneys, advocates, and EMS professionals. Several opportunities are available in 2024 throughout Ohio. 

Sexual Assault Kits: Collaboration for Improved Outcomes

  • An 8-hour in person multidisciplinary training that aims to break down silos and promote a survivor-centric approach to care.

Forensic Nurse Examiner/Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Adolescent-Adult Trainings for Nurses

  • A 6-day live virtual Forensic Nurse Examiner/Sexual Assault Nurse examiner Adult/Adolescent training for Nurses and Law Enforcement.

     April 3-5 & 24-26

     June 26-28 & July 10-12

     August 21-23 & September 4-6

     November 6-8 & 13-15

 

Mock Trials for Law Enforcement and Forensic Nurses: Testifying in Sexual Violence Cases

  • In person mock trials for law enforcement and forensic nurses where education will be provided on the updated sexual assault protocol and new Ohio strangulation law.  Additionally, nurses and law enforcement will have the opportunity to testify in a supportive environment.

     March 1, 2024 (Athens County)

     May 10, 2024 (Highland County)

     July 26, 2024 (Stark County)

     October 4, 2024 (Hancock County)

 

Monthly Virtual Trainings for Law Enforcement

  • Opportunities for law enforcement to receive education on topics related to intentional violence and collaborations with forensic nurses.

      Occurs the second Tuesday of every 1 month from 1-3pm EST

Monthly Virtual Office Hours for Law Enforcement

  • A place for law enforcement to discuss any multidisciplinary needs or issues with SAKT, release of evidence or other areas of concern brought to the meeting.
